Let’s say the uncomfortable part out loud: the traditional Tier 1 SOC analyst role, at least as it has existed for years, deserves to die.

The loudest fear around SOC automation is that it will eliminate the entry point into cybersecurity. That concern is understandable, but it assumes the current entry point is healthy and worth preserving in its present form. It is not.
If Tier 1 as we know it disappears, what should replace it is not a vacuum. It should be a better ladder.
